Nigerian Association of Women in Agriculture (NAWIA) is an NGO which started in 1999 with the name Women in Agriculture Association (WIAA), Makurdi. This name was later changed by Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) during registration on the 21st of September, 2011 with the above name. The Mission of the association is to Reduce poverty and empower rural women to take valid decisions on their own. Its program focus areas include: - empowering rural women through improved agricultural incentives; sensitizing women to take leadership roles to influence decisions that affect their lives; youth empowerment through Agriculture and climate change. Our geographical presences include Benue, Nasarawa and Plateau states where we work with Small Scale Farmers (SSFs) who are mostly women.

OBJECTIVES

-  Our main objective is to improve the standards of living of Small scale farmers especially women through our programme.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE INCLUDE

-   To provide training for youths in various skills of Agriculture.

-   To create awareness and empower women to make decision on their own.

-   To improve the welfare of members and build their capacities.

MISSION

Reduce poverty and empower the rural Women to take valid decisions on their own

VISION

Raise the standards of living of the rural women and improve the youths technically with Agricultural skills and Knowledge.

MEMBERSHIP

The Membership is open to all existing and Intending female Agriculturalists, Livestock farmers, Home Economics, Fisheries, Agro-Entrepreneurs and all persons or organizations involved in Agro based Manufacturing, processing and distribution business.

FUNDING

Nigeria Association of Women in Agriculture association (NAWIA) runs on membership registration, monthly dues, levies, donations from both within and outside grants and loans.
